This week saw us take on Sturt Sabres in an early game at Port Adelaide. Before even starting the game the team was in good spirits having received our Lexi designed brand new jumpers and they looked superb for our warm up. Disappointing that we will miss out on Evie ‘Gangsta’ Lovell’s attire again but pleased to look like a professional outfit.
The second highlight before we stepped on the court was Super Coach Tuzza’s brown Indiana Pacer slippers – they also looked very nice on Grandpa Tuz!
We jumped out of the blocks in the first quarter with some intense pressure defence up one end and some great team work up the other, finishing the first in emphatic fashion, up 33-3.
The second and the third quarters saw the scoring dry right up, still getting nice shots away, but seeing no reward on the score board. Half time saw us up 42-10, followed by a 50-18 margin at three-quarter time with plenty of room for improvement.
Thanks to everyone’s favourite Pokemon Evie hitting 8 final term points and Sturt deciding not to guard me at all on the three point line in the last (probably due to my recent form), allowing me to knock down 5 wide open three-pointers, we closed out the game with a with a 27-10 last quarter effort, winning the game 77-28.
Everyone contributed again, with the big girls flexing their muscles and dominating inside the paint at both ends of the court, combining for 14 points, Lexi doing a great job playing the AG role of being part big/part small when required. Pokemon continued her form finishing with 23 points, Jaz ‘Bee-sting’ Moyle chimed in with a handy 10 points and I rounded out the scoring with 30 points.
Next challenge, we meet Southern again at Morphett Vale!
