Adelaide University Sport and Fitness has partnered with Sport SA to deliver the annual Women in Sport Brunch.

Join us for a morning of brunch, bubbles and networking featuring athletes, coaches and media personalities discussing the power of sport and its role in creating career pathways and developing leaders in business, science and engineering for women.

We are pleased to announce our speaker's so far to the Annual Women in Sport Brunch for 2023 - Margaret Gayen, Bruce Djite and Dr. Sarah Cannard.  They will be joining our host, media personality and radio presenter, Ali Clarke for this year's event.

Margaret is an Adelaide University Alumni, holding a Bachelor of Mechanical and Sports Engineering. Throughout her studies, she competed as an elite long jumper and sprinter, and represented Australia at multiple international competitions, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.  Margaret is now working as a renewable energy engineer and is an advocate for gender equality in her industry. She was recently named South Australian Young Professional Engineer of the year for her work in both areas.

Bruce is an advocate for women’s sport and is the ambassador for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.  He is a former football star, representing Australia with the Socceroos in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2011 AFC qualification campaigns. On retirement Bruce was appointed as the Club Director of Football at Adelaide United FC and also served as a member of the Board of Professional Footballers Australia.  Now Bruce is Executive Director of the SA Division of the Property Council  and a football analyst with Paramount+ and Network 10.

Dr. Sarah Cannard is an elite hockey player, involved with Adelaide University Sport for 21 years, including playing in premier league, intervarsity and representing the state in both field and indoor hockey. She was selected to be in the Australian World Cup squad for indoor hockey, and been awarded a Full Blue, Half Blue and Club Letters (service). She has also served in volunteer and captain roles and is currently on the Blue committee. Outside of sport Sarah has an accomplished career in the defence and space industry, including being the 2022 Female Space Leader of the Year.
