Adelaide University athletes win medals at Athletics Nationals
Published Tue 02 May 2023
The recent Athletics Nationals were held on the Gold Coast from 19-21 April 2023, and we had five of our Adelaide University athletes attend the event run by UniSport Australia; Victoria Cholsh, Georgia Wyatt-Read, Blake Jones, Joseph Mckinnon, and Bailey Giles. While Christine Gayen also represented the University in the Athletics Australia Nationals earlier in the month, competing in the Heptathlon.
Adelaide University students competed across a variety of events from the 200m, 400m 800m, 1500m, and the high jump, and we are very proud of all of our athletes’ efforts at the Nationals. Special mention must go to Victoria Cholsh, who won Gold in the 800m with a time of 2:09:63, which is also a personal best for her! “It was a great event, and nice to meet some of the fellow athletes within the University.”
Georgia Wyatt-Read also had a fantastic result in the high jump, finishing second with a personal best jump of 1.70m. While Christine Gayen finished 6th overall in the Heptathlon, achieving 5000 points in total for the first time in her career. With this, UniSport Australia has awarded her with a medal of performance for her outstanding achievements.
Well done to all the athletes who completed and we can’t wait for next year to continue to improve!
