AU Waatu Unveils Dynamic Coaching Squad for Upcoming Basketball Season

Adelaide University Sport and Fitness are thrilled to welcome a dynamic trio of coaches who are set to elevate the AU Waatu, University Basketball League (UBL) team to new heights. Each coach brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and a shared passion for fostering both individual player development and team success.

We are pleased to announce the following coaching staff for the men's and women's AU Waatu 2024 teams -

 
Scott Freer – Head Coach

With an illustrious 25-year coaching career, Scott Freer steps into the role of Head Coach with a proven track record in South Australian Basketball. Formerly an NBL1 Men’s Head Coach and currently serving as the Director of Coaching for a local district club, Scott is no stranger to nurturing talent. He shares Adelaide University Sport's commitment to a holistic approach to the game—playing for fun, playing to win, and playing with pride. Scott is excited about contributing to team performance and athlete development within the program, commenting, "I'm excited to blend my coaching expertise into the team's dynamic, fuelling our collective success. As I embark on this coaching journey with AU Waatu, I anticipate not only sharing my knowledge but also embracing the invaluable lessons that each moment on the court unfolds."
 

 
Kyle Vucetic – Assistant Coach

Bringing two decades of experience to the team, Kyle Vucetic has held various coaching positions, including a successful stint as the Under 21s Div 1 Head Coach at Forestville Eagles. His recent studies with the European Head Coaches Board have further enriched his understanding of the game. Kyle is eager to face the challenges of the upcoming UBL season, and is looking forward to sharing knowledge, contributing to the team’s success and continuing his own learning journey along the way.
 

 
Lachlan Coppick – Assistant Coach

Lachlan Coppick, a seasoned coach with NBL1 experience and a background in both basketball and netball at the state and national levels, is excited to join the AU Waatu UBL Program. With a wealth of diverse coaching experience, Lachlan aims to make a positive contribution to the UBL program, bringing his unique insights to enhance the team's performance.
