Ten student athletes have been named to receive the Adelaide University Sport and Fitness Intervarsity Certificate of Merit.
The Intervarsity Certificate of Merit is awarded to recognise the contribution and performance of University of Adelaide students, who represent the university in intervarsity competitions.
Sports such as Basketball, Rowing, Fencing, Swimming and Rugby have all been represented by the ten student athletes.
Roshan Chandran headlines the recipients with his bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, in the Australian Men’s Epee team.
He showed his dominant form at this year’s UniNationals, taking out the gold medal in the Men’s Epee competition.
Elite athlete Tiara Hatchard had a huge 2022, representing both high-performance teams.
After hanging up the spikes after becoming one of the state’s fastest sprinters, she joined the AU Waatus in their debut season of the UBL.
But it was her breakout debut season with the AU Romas, when she switched codes in the middle of 2022 and saw her receive a call up to Rugby Australia’s Rising Star Program.
Fellow Waatu teammate Tamika Reid is also a recipient, co-captaining the University of Adelaide’s Indigenous National side this year.

Other Waatu squad members Luke Mollet, Lachie Hunter and Nick Fassos will also receive the Intervarsity Certificate of Merit.
Both Nick and Lachie were an integral part of the Waatus, both sharing the captaincy for 2022.
Both certain starters for the Waatus, they contributed to a successful debut season for the high-performance team, finishing sixth overall.
Luke Mollet also part of the squad, displayed his team spirit throughout the 2022 season.
But it was his presence at UniNationals that helped the university to a successful competition.
He co-captained the University of Adelaide team, was an avid support of all sports and helped guide the Basketball team to sixth place in the country.
In the water, swimmers Tom Lightfoot and Josha Salchow will also receive the award.
