Layan Mouhamed is passionate about footy, but even more passionate about community.
A member of the Adelaide University Football Club, Layan is a Program Leader at the Bachar Houli Foundation, which was founded by former AFL player and Richmond star, Bachar Houli.
The foundation has expanded all over Australia, with the aim to develop young leaders within the Muslim community.
The Bachar Houli Foundation recently partnered with the SANFL for the inaugural Senior Girls Leadership Program, which Layan was a part of.
Layan said "Our aim of the program was to provide a culturally safe environment for young Muslim girls, aged 15-18."
"They learn about physical health, mental health, wellbeing and nutrition, while building their connections with sisters their age and share similar cultural identity."
The program also focused on cultural identity and how to express identity as a young Muslim living in Australia, while also celebrating Australian culture.
A recent scholarship recipient for her on-field activities, Layan is also doing her part off the field within her community.
