First year student and Ultimate Frisbee athlete Stephanie Childs has been selected in the Australian Women's Under 20 team for the 2022 Trans-Tasman series.

Childs is the only South Australian selected in the Women's team, which will travel to Auckland, New Zealand to compete in early October.

Blown away by the news, she said "I was super excited that I would be representing Australia. I never thought of myself as overly competitive, and I went into the selection camp only looking to improve my skills and meet new people."

Childs has been playing the sport for two years, whilst studying a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) and Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Science.

In her short Ultimate Frisbee career, Childs has an outstanding resume being named Rookie of the Year (2020) and Most Improved (2021) at club level. At state level, she was awarded Female Youth Player of the Year (2020 & 2021) and named vice-captain of the SA Under 22 Women's team.

The tournament will be held over two days from 1-2 October, with two training camps scheduled in Melborune prior.

"Adjusting to the climate will be difficult, as well as playing with a newly formed team. But my teammates are amazing people, and I'm looking forward to growing and developing with them", Childs said.
