Evie Lovell claims the University Basketball League Women's MVP

Inaugural Adelaide University Waatu captain Evie Lovell has been named the Women's MVP for the 2022 University Basketball League season.
Lovell was instrumental in the Waatus debut season, which saw her player every game of the regular season.
The University of Adelaide PHD student averaged 11.4 points and 2 assists, with a season high 19 points and 6 assists against Federation University.
This honour became as an unexpected surprise to Lovell, who said "I'm really grateful for this award, the league pushed me physically and psychologically, and now I am a better player for it."
Waatu Women's Head Coach Jawan Stepney said Evie's vocal leadership and positive attitude uplifted the team.
"Evie showed up each day with a smile on her face. She pushed herself and the team to bring the best out of each other every week", coach Stepney said.
Lovell was full of praise for her coaches and teammates for the trust and confidence they gave her.
"Thank you to all the staff of AU Sport, coaches Jawan and Jaz and the university for your support and giving us the opportunity to play in this league against some talented teams."
The 24-year-old point guard was officially awarded the MVP honours in Melbourne today after the Women's final.
