Sports Week and the Vice-Chancellor's (VC) Cup is done and dusted for 2023!
This week-long event was all about fostering a healthy, active community - along with a bit of fun and friendly competition on campus between the University’s Divisions and Faculties. It was a fun-filled week at the University of Adelaide, and it wouldn't have been possible without the support from Medibank.
We were blessed with some great weather and there were lots of good vibes. Competitors received plenty of support from students and staff cheering people on from the sidelines.
The winning teams for each day of the event were:
- Day one Sports Week cornhole winners – Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics
- Day two Sports Week table tennis winners – Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology
- Day three Sports Week volleyball winners – University Operations
- Day four Sports Week basketball 3x3 winners – AU Sport and Fitness
- Day five - the week ended in style on Friday with the annual 15th VC Cup 800m relay race, which was won by the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences. Thank you to Acting VC, Professor John Williams, who officially opened the event and presented the trophy to our winning team.
And our overall winners were….
Congratulations to the Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE) for taking out the inaugural 2023 Adelaide University (AU) Sports Inter-Faculty Sports Shield. Our overall winners of the week-long event, DASE were the most consistent team and placed on the podium in four out of five activities.
There were also great member perks available for AU Sport members throughout the week, including free donuts, the smoothie bike a BBQ and more.
A big thanks to all the participants, volunteers and those that helped make this event a success.
We can't wait to do it again in 2024!
