The University of Adelaide was heavily represented throughout the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, with four medals making its way back on home soil.

The AUSF community didn't have to wait long for the first medal, with Elite Athletes and Cycling Club members Maeve Plouffe and Sophie Edwards claiming gold in the Women's 4000m Team Pursuit.

To go with the gold, the team also set a new Commonwealth Games record of 4:12.234.

Success on the cycling track didn't stop there, with Maeve Plouffe claiming her second medal of the Games.

Plouffe finished second in the Women's 3000m Individual Pursuit, after a great battle with New Zealand's Bryony Botha.

Student Alumni Paul Burnett made his Commonwealth Games debut this year, partnering with veteran Chris McHugh in Beach Volleyball.

The pair were heavy favourites coming into the Games, having a solid campaign claiming Gold in the final against Canada.

The match went down to the wire, with Aussie's snatching victory 2-1 over the Canadian's and gifting Burnett his maiden Commonwealth Games medal.

Hains competed in both the Women's 10m Platform and the Women's Synchronised 10m Platform.

Current Commerce student Matthew Northcott also travelled to the Commonwealth Games, competing as a Guide in the Para-Lawn Bowls.

The Aussie's took on England in the Bronze Medal match, but were edged out by the host nation 14 - 11, finishing fourth overall.
