The University of Adelaide has claimed the 2022 SA Challenge Cup, after it’s Cricket victory last Thursday.
The year-long SA Challenge campaign saw students from UniSA, Flinders, Torrens and The University of Adelaide to compete for the ultimate prize across both semester one and two.
We were officially crowned champions last Thursday as our Cricket squad knocked off both UniSA and Torrens University at Park 12.
We finished the campaign as it started, which saw us claim a win in Ultimate Frisbee back in March.
We continued this form across the semester one, which saw us finish second in Tennis, first in Lacrosse and first in Touch Football.
After moving into our indoor sports, we faced strong competition in Volleyball, which saw us finish third overall.
But got back to winning ways in Basketball, finishing top and staying undefeated with the help from some of our AU Waatus.
Our Netball team followed through with another top of the table finish, while our Wheelchair Basketball squad clinched second spot at Pridham Hall.
After the winter break, the campaign resumed in mid-July, with Soccer kicking us off.
Unfortunately, results didn’t go our way, as we finished bottom of the table facing some super competition in UniSA, Torrens and Flinders.
We got back to winning ways with a dominant display in Table Tennis, with both our men’s and women’s teams preforming exceptionally well.
Our Badminton team did their best to match the result on the same day, but could only take out third.
We finished with 34 points topping the overall charts, with Flinders University runners up for the 2022 campaign.
UniSA finished two points off second, which saw them take out third while Torrens rounded out the table in fourth.
